How to use Pursuit data in Clay

When to Use This

Use this when you want Pursuit accounts, contact verification, or Signals inside a Clay table.

Before You Start

  • You have a Clay account with access to a workbook

  • Optional: a Pursuit API key. If you connect your own key, runs don't use Clay credits. How to generate a Pursuit API key

Steps

Start a new table from Pursuit

  1. In your Clay workbook, click + Add at the bottom of the page.

  2. Search for Pursuit.

  3. Under Find, choose Search Pursuit's universe of US government entities for an account list, or Find public sector signals with Pursuit for signals.

  4. Under Select Pursuit account, pick an account. To use your own key, click + Add account and paste your Pursuit API key.

  5. Set at least one filter (for example, Account type and State). For signal searches, enter a Profile description and at least one Signal criteria with a Priority from 1 to 5.

  6. Run the search.

Result: Clay fills the table with one row per account or signal, including the Pursuit ID.

Add Pursuit to an existing table

  1. In the table, click Add enrichment.

  2. Search for Pursuit and choose an action under Integrations:

    • Enrich a public sector account: needs Company name and Company state or territory

    • Enrich a public sector contact: needs Full name, plus a Pursuit account ID or Company name and state

    • Find public sector signals for an account: needs a Profile description, Signal criteria, and a Pursuit ID or Account name and state

  3. Map each input to a column in your table.

  4. Optional: turn on Auto-update to run new rows as they arrive, or use Only run if to limit which rows run.

  5. Run the enrichment.

What Success Looks Like

Each row shows Pursuit data, such as a Pursuit ID, a Confidence Score, or matching Signals with source links.

Common Issues

Problem: A row came back with no match. Fix: Check the company name and state spelling, then add the Company domain. Rows with no match are refunded, so retrying costs nothing.

Problem: Runs are using Clay credits. Fix: Open Select Pursuit account and connect your own Pursuit API key with + Add account.
