How to Build a Play in Pursuit

Last updated: August 14, 2026

When to Use This

Use this when you want to create automated workflows within Pursuit. For example: chaining email generation, CRM opportunity creation, or sending emails to a buying committee - all from reusable workflows.

Before You Start

Setting Up a Play

  1. Go to Settings → Plays

  2. Select New Play (purple button in top right corner)

  3. Fill out the Create a new play pop-up

    1. Name (required)

    2. Description (recommended)

  4. In the canvas, drag a Trigger from the Steps panel onto the canvas; e.g.:

    • When a new Radar signal appears runs the play automatically on every new signal that lands in a rep's Radar inbox

    • From Radar Signal runs the play when a user clicks Run Play on a signal card

    • From Radar Signal Contact runs the play when a user clicks Run Play on a specific contact inside a signal

  5. Drag one or more Actions onto the canvas in the order you want them to execute; e.g.:

  • Generate AI Email — generates a personalized email using the signal as context

  • Send via Gmail/Outlook — sends the generated email through the user's connected email account

  • Create HubSpot Deal — creates a Deal in HubSpot tied to the contact

  • Create Salesforce Opportunity — creates an Opportunity in Salesforce tied to the contact

  • Create Dynamics Opportunity — creates an Opportunity in Dynamics tied to the contact

  • Create HubSpot Lead - creates a contact/lead in Hubspot

  • Create Salesforce Lead - creates a lead in Salesforce

  1. Make sure to connect your trigger(s) and action(s) so each flows to the next step as you intend

  2. Configure each trigger and action

    1. Click on each trigger or action step to open the step-specific configurations

  3. Click the Save button on the canvas as you update your workflow

  4. Once all steps are configured and saved, Activate (purple button in the top right) to make the Play available to users

Automatic plays

A play built on When a new Radar signal appears does not wait for a rep. It runs the day the signal appears, on every signal, which is the difference between acting on the signals a rep got to and acting on all of them.

Two things to settle before you activate an automatic play:

  1. Confirm every action in the play is one you want taken without review. A Generate AI Email step produces a draft, and a Send via Gmail step sends it

  2. Confirm the reps whose inboxes feed the play have the connections each action needs, for example a connected Gmail account for Send via Gmail steps

What Success Looks Like

The Play appears as an option when any user selects Send Prospecting Email on a Radar signal card.

Common Issues

The Activate button is grayed out

This means you have outstanding configuration steps that need attention first. Click on the red exclamation to the left to see the specific issues needing attention
