How Do the Inbox, Working, and Done Tabs Work in the Signal inbox?
Last updated: October 23, 2026
Quick Answer
Inbox sorts your accounts into three tabs. Inbox holds accounts with new Signals. Working holds accounts you have acted on with a Play, a worksheet, or Talking Points. Done holds accounts where every Signal is marked done or dismissed. Acting on a Signal moves the account for you, so the fastest way to an empty Inbox is to act on what is in it.
What This Is
Inbox used to use four on/off filters, which meant sixteen possible views. It now uses three tabs. Each tab shows a count of accounts, and the tabs are personal to you.
How It Works
What each tab shows
Inbox: accounts with new Signals
Working: accounts you have acted on with a Play, a worksheet, or Talking Points
Done: accounts where every Signal is marked done or dismissed
How accounts move
Run a Play or add the account to a worksheet, and the account moves to Working on its own. If a new Signal arrives on an account in Working, the account appears in Inbox again. When every Signal on an account is marked done or dismissed, the account moves to Done.
Nothing jumps while you work
When you act on an account, it stays where it is with a "Moved to Working" label and a Next account button. Done and dismissed Signals fold up in place instead of disappearing, and starring or marking done takes effect instantly. You always see where an account went and why.
Your tabs are personal
A teammate's work never moves Signals in your tabs. Their activity still appears in each Signal's timeline.
What It Doesn't Do
The tabs do not hide teammate activity. You can still see what a colleague did on a Signal in its timeline. The tabs also do not replace saving: starring a Signal still flags it for follow-up.
